Dr. Emmanuel Nkya Elected to COSECSA Council

The Tanzania Surgical Association extends heartfelt congratulations to Dr. Emmanuel Nkya on his election to the Council of the College of Surgeons of East, Central and Southern Africa (COSECSA).

Dr. Nkya, a distinguished general surgeon and long-standing TSA member, received overwhelming support from member countries during the recent COSECSA elections held in Nairobi, Kenya.

Dr. Nkya brings over 25 years of surgical experience and has been instrumental in advancing surgical education in Tanzania. His achievements include:

• Establishing the first dedicated surgical skills laboratory at MUHAS
• Training over 100 surgical residents
• Publishing more than 40 peer-reviewed research papers
• Leading multiple surgical outreach programs to underserved regions

"This recognition reflects not just my individual efforts, but the collective commitment of Tanzanian surgeons to excellence," said Dr. Nkya upon receiving news of his election.
