We are pleased to announce the recipients of the 2026 TSA Research Grant. This year, five outstanding research projects have been selected for funding from a competitive pool of 23 applications.
Funded Projects:
- Dr. Amina Mwanga - "Outcomes of Emergency Laparotomy in Rural Tanzania: A Multi-Center Study"
- Dr. John Kessy - "Surgical Site Infections: Risk Factors and Prevention Strategies in Regional Hospitals"
- Dr. Grace Mushi - "Task-Shifting in Pediatric Surgery: Safety and Efficacy Assessment"
- Dr. Peter Komba - "Cost-Effectiveness of Day Surgery Programs in Tanzania"
- Dr. Fatma Hassan - "Breast Cancer Surgery Outcomes: A 5-Year Retrospective Study"
Each project will receive TZS 15,000,000 in funding. We congratulate all recipients and look forward to the valuable contributions their research will make to surgical practice in Tanzania.
The next round of grant applications will open in September 2026.
